The list of materials here should cover most references currently in webpage column notes, plus useful other sources related to the general subject of northwest Thailand during WWII.

The motivation for presenting a bibliography on this website was this author's having to cope with the practice among modern hardcopy publishers of omitting bibliographies, to rely instead exclusively on notes which relentlessly use the shorthand ibid and op cit and the like.

Anyone who has had to wade through tens of pages of fine print notes to find an original reference for an ibid should consider the utter disrespect of the publishing industry towards both authors and serious readers that the practice represents.

My thanks to Tom Yarborough for sharing what turned out to be a mutual sense of frustration and infuriation at the amounts of time lost in having to track ibids and op cits in otherwise well-written and well-researched books (Tom Yarborough email of 2115 hrs 26 Mar 2014).
